Repair or replace: how to weigh it up
A tap that drips or stiffens is not always a write-off — a worn washer, O-ring or cartridge can often be replaced for a fraction of a new tap. Replacement usually wins when the tap is old and parts are hard to find, the body is pitted or corroded, it has been repaired more than once already, or you simply fancy an upgrade. A good rule of thumb: if repeated repairs are creeping towards the price of a decent new tap, replacing it is better value.
