What replacing a tap actually involves
Swapping a tap is a tidy job in the right hands. It usually runs like this: isolate the water at the valves under the unit (or at the mains if none are fitted), disconnect the flexible tails, undo the back-nut holding the old tap down, lift it out and clean up the surface, then bed the new tap on its washer, tighten the fixings and reconnect the supplies with fresh connectors. The last and most important step is running it and checking every joint for drips.

Tap replacement: quick questions
Do I need to turn the water off?
Yes, briefly. If you have isolation valves under the sink or basin it is a quick local shut-off; if not, the mains stopcock does the job. Either way it is only off while the tap is changed.
Can you supply the tap, or should I?
Either works. Plenty of people buy a tap they like and have me fit it; if you would rather I sourced one, I can advise on a sensible, good-quality choice for the water pressure you have.
What if the old tap is seized solid?
It happens on older taps. I carry the right tools to free a stubborn back-nut without damaging the basin or worktop — it just adds a little time.
